Heart Unions Week organising checklist

To help you organise and recruit new members during Heart Unions Week, where new joiners will get their first three months free, we have created a new organising checklist.

Look at ways to engage with non-members. This could be:

  • An in-person event on a day the most people will be in the workplace.
  • An online event using Zoom or Teams.
  • Supporting members to have joining conversations with non-members
  • All of the above!

Find ways to gather information on what matters to colleagues in your workplace. This could be by:

  • A survey
  • A Thought Exchange (talk to your Organiser about what this is and/or to arrange one)
  • Prize draw – used to gather information on issues
  • Collecting the information at in person events

Communicate with members on how these issues will be addressed, either in negotiations or by campaigning. This could be by:

At the end of the week contact all your new members welcoming them to the branch or section, perhaps invite them to a new members welcome/meet the committee event?
